SANDALS RESORTS TEAM MEMBERS JOIN IN HELP FOR HAITI
Members of the Sandals Resorts International and American Airlines teams arrive in Port-au-Prince on the first of ten flights bringing supplies to Haiti through February 23, 2010.
On February 2, 2010, Sandals Resorts International (SRI) team members arrived in Haiti, continuing efforts to support the Haiti Releif Fund, following the devastating earthquake in the Caribbean nation last month. Traveling on behalf of The Sandals Foundation, the Jamaica-based philanthropic arm of SRI, team members helped to coordinate the delivery of much-needed supplies to earthquake victims through a partnership with American Airlines and its regional carrier, American Eagle. As a result of this partnership, the Sandals Foundation is underwriting the cost of the ten Humanitarian Relief Flights from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Port-au-Prince, Haiti and American Airlines is coordinating the relief supplies for these flights. The missions will continue three times per week through February 23, 2010.
The Sandals Foundation donates water, media and emergency supplies in Haiti.
The flights are flown on American Eagle ATR
Heidi Clarke, director of programs for the Sandals Foundation, and Minnette Velez of AA visit an emergency hospital facility in Port-au-Prince to provide support and supplies to those in need of medical assistance.
In addition to these support flights, the Sandals Foundation is also working with two non-profit organizations – the Salesian Missions and Popular Services International (PSI) – to provide earthquake relief to Haiti. Furthermore, the Foundation has also been tapping into SRI’s network of more than 10,000 employees – as well its resort portfolio which stretches across five Caribbean islands – offering staff, resort guests and all who wish to get involved the opportunity to donate to the Haiti Relief Fund. Monetary donations can be made on-property at any Sandals Resort, Beaches Resort, Royal Plantation Collection Resort or Grand Pineapple Beach Resort or online by visiting www.SandalsFoundation.org. Checks can also be mailed to: The Sandals Foundation / Haiti Relief Fund, 4950 SW 72nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33155.
